- Hi,
-
- This is just to let you know that we have changed the name of
- the University of New Hampshire's public CWIS (just VideoTex based
- at present) from UNHVTX to WILDCAT. (We are like many schools
- that have an animal totem!)
-
- We will support access via both names for a period of time (two
- months??) but eventually it will just be WILDCAT. The host name
- is now WILDCAT.UNH.EDU but the address is still 132.177.128.58

- PS ... This was a reminder of how difficult it can be to choose a
- really satisfactory name for such a service. Alternatives
- such as "unhinfo" were considered but not chosen in the end.
- As a predominantly VAX/VMS site, a further complication is
- the six-character limit that DECNET imposes on node names.
- We decided not to let that limit us, even if it means the
- locals who use DECNET rather than TELNET or LAT have to
- use WLDCAT when they connect.
