  11. I just added Andy Harper's latest version of VMS_SHARE, v8.1, to
  12. the WKUVX1 FILESERV.
  13.  
  14. VMS_SHARE packages files for mailing, automatically breaking up large
  15. files into smaller parts.  Files are encoded to protect them from the
  16. harmful effects of some mailers.
  17.  
  18. This new VMS_SHARE supports encoding of binary files, though it
  19. doesn't do as well as MFTU does (which is to be expected given the
  20. different methods).

  22. VMS_SHARE is distributed as a ZIP archive.  Consequently, you'll need
  23. UnZip v5.0 to decompress the files.  If you just want the UnZip .EXE
  24. file (linked under VMS v5.1), you can ask for the package UNZIP_EXE.

  26. The files will be available via anonymous ftp shortly from
  27. ftp.spc.edu (it's apparently down at the moment); you'll need:

  30.     [.MACRO32.SAVESETS]VMS_SHARE.ZIP

  32. To get the new VMS_SHARE via e-mail, send the following commands
  33. (without the comments) in the body of a mail message to
  34. FILESERV@WKUVX1.BITNET:

  37. SEND UNZIP_EXE            !If you don't have UnZip v5.0

  39. You can get the latest ZIP and UNZIP by sending the following
  40. commands:
