- I installed UCX V2.0 on Friday. Today is Tuesday and I've found numerous
- problems so far -- and I'm not half way through testing it. Here's a
- summary of the seemingly flagrant problems I've encountered:
-
- 1. Virtual terminals (VTA): No longer work. Apparently the
- TNDRIVER, or something, completely ignores the "disconnect" bit in
- the sysgen param TTY_DEFCHAR2. All TN devices are created
- Nodisconnect. UCX SET COMM/REMO=VIRTUAL has no bearing on this
- behavior.
-
- 2. With V1.3, host names would be displayed when a show users/full,
- sho terminal, etc were issued. Now only the IP address is displayed.
-
- 3. RLOGIN 0 does not work as documented. (Telnet 0, however, works
- just like set host 0...just like it always did.)
-
- 4. You'll get a UCX BUGCHECK (not a crash) if you remove a proxy
- from UCX$proxy which is the first proxy to have /HOST=*. (Note that
- the remove is still done, but that nasty message still bothers me.)
-
- 5. It seems that RSH rejects ALL incoming requests unless there is
- a proxy of ADD PROXY vms_username /REMOTE="user"/HOST=*
- ^^^^^^^
- 6. You cannot have more than an 8-character username specified for
- /REMOTE_USER=. (That eliminates being able to RSHELL between VMS
- systems for users who have 9+-character usernames.)
-
- That's what I've encountered so far. All of these problems have been
- reported to Colorado support who is diligently investigating them.
-
- I'll report back when I get answers to the outstanding questions or WHEN I
- find another list of "problems."
