- Hello UCX users,
-
- I didn't find the following problem in the FAQ list, so I decided to post it:
- We are using UCX 1.3 and VMS 5.5 on our uVAX3600/Vaxstation 3200/2000 cluster.
- UCX is set up to contact several name servers. Opening a telnet connection,
- the host name can be given on the command line like
- $ telnet rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de .
- Trying to do the same with ftp leads to the following error message:
- $ ftp rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de
- %UCX-E-FTP_HSTINF, Failed to get host information for .DEMV1.RUS.UNI-STUTTGART.D
- E from database
-
- -RMS-E-RNF, record not found
-
- while typing
- open rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de
- (or CONNECT rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de in the VMS-style ftp)
- works fine.
- Hosts on our local domain are successfully looked up as long as the only the
- host name is specified. The problem does not depend on the case the host names
- are written in (e.g. bracketing the host name in double quotes does not help).
