- Before reading Dan's reply I added a rewrite rule for the defragment channel
- (despite the fact I didn't believe that would make a difference) and then I
- ran another test. It just arrived, successful. I'm sure that my change
- didn't fix anything. So, I suspect my previous failure was ``pilot error''.
- All I can think of was that I didn't install the recompiled config, cluster
- wide. In any case, it's working now. I did a mail /foreign of a 3000+
- disk-block save set (from the PMDF distribution) over a PhoneNet channel
- marked with MaxBlocks 500 (in 1K PMDF blocks) and it fragmented the msg into
- 4 pieces, as expected, and then defragmented it at the receiving end.
- Everything worked. Thanks. This facility is great!

- Ned, I disagreed with you the last time you posted a statement like this, but
- held back and waited for someone else to object. This time, as it's ``my
- thread'', I guess it's my turn. I understand that very little documentation
- is needed. But *some* is. It's not enough to say ``When you upgrade, run
- configure.com, look at the output, try to understand it, and use it as a
- model to update your old config.'' We need some way to start with the new
- features list (which did mention the facility) and, via the Index in the
- Guide, find some documentation describing the features and syntax. If
- you'd said ``Hey, we didn't have time to document it before the release,''
- I would have accepted that without question. I'd prefer to get the
- functionality sooner rather than wait until the doc is ready. Maybe I read
- more into your 3 lines quoted above than you meant. [At times some of us
- do seem to read some emotion in your words that you don't mean.] If so, I
- apologize for jumping on this. It just struck a raw nerve. However, don'
- let this complaint (objection?) detract from my last statement above. The
- defragmentation facility is very valuable to us and I'm very happy it's here.
