  18. Family values are important -- but not the "Family Values" the Republicans
  19. are harping on, which have more to do with suppression of women's
  20. independence and hatred of gays.  I haven't seen the right-wing
  21. "Family Values" people propose anything that would actually promote
  22. healthy, functional, nurturing families; they seem to be simply trying
  23. to turn back the clock to the '50s.
