- Family values are important -- but not the "Family Values" the Republicans
- are harping on, which have more to do with suppression of women's
- independence and hatred of gays. I haven't seen the right-wing
- "Family Values" people propose anything that would actually promote
- healthy, functional, nurturing families; they seem to be simply trying
- to turn back the clock to the '50s.
