-
- Newbies are people who have just discovered the net. You can tell this by the
- following characteristics of their posts:
- "Hello, I'm new on the net..."
- No email address
- Postings which do not fit within the topic area of the net.group
- Inflammitory postings because "I'm new on the net, and by gum I'm gonna
- prove just how bad I am" (this ends up happening, but not the way the average
- newbie means it)
- "Your computer sucks!!" type flames [Example: "Amigas are bad imitation
- Macs!" on comp.sys.amiga.advocacy (no flames please, just an example)]
- The tendancy to continue arguements to the point where they're not welcome
- on certain net.groups
- Short tempers when they find out their nuggets of wisdom end up not being
- appreciated
- "What's a newbie" B+)
-
- I'm sure some of the other people here have more and/or better ideas as to the
- nature of the newbie. As it is, I've between the stage of being a newbie and
- being annoyed by them.
