  17. Newbies are people who have just discovered the net.  You can tell this by the
  18. following characteristics of their posts:
  19.      "Hello, I'm new on the net..."
  20.      No email address
  21.      Postings which do not fit within the topic area of the net.group
  22.      Inflammitory postings because "I'm new on the net, and by gum I'm gonna
  23. prove just how bad I am"  (this ends up happening, but not the way the average
  24. newbie means it)
  25.      "Your computer sucks!!" type flames [Example: "Amigas are bad imitation
  26. Macs!" on comp.sys.amiga.advocacy (no flames please, just an example)]
  27.      The tendancy to continue arguements to the point where they're not welcome
  28. on certain net.groups
  29.      Short tempers when they find out their nuggets of wisdom end up not being
  30. appreciated
  31.      "What's a newbie"   B+)

  33. I'm sure some of the other people here have more and/or better ideas as to the
  34. nature of the newbie.  As it is, I've between the stage of being a newbie and
  35. being annoyed by them.
