  11. i am tormented by noise.

  13. the cubical in which i work is surrounded by voices.
  14. shiny happy continuously chatty voices.  there's some
  15. social intercourse going on in the food room; besides,
  16. the ventilation rumbles and rattles there.  in meetings,
  17. there is always at least one set of strident vocal chords.
  18. outside, military aircraft and the rush rush of traffic
  19. pass through the air regularly.  the phone rings and there's 
  20. another voice inside.  even the lights hum.

  22. after five hours of this i am exhausted, but i have three
  23. more to go.  and with deadlines, more.  and people wonder 
  24. why i hate coming in during the day...
