  19. Position 1: LECTURER IN CONCRETE
  20.  
  21. Teaching and research in concrete structures, concrete
  22. technology and structural mechanics.  Honours Degree in
  23. Civil Engineering and some years of teaching and/or research
  24. and practical experience in structural engineering.  Preference
  25. to applicants who already have a Ph.D. Tenurable
  26. appointment.  Salary range Lecturer $41,000 - $48,688 p.a.

  34. The research and consulting interests of the concrete group
  35. include the technology and use of high strength concrete in
  36. structures, composite action between concrete and metal
  37. decking, behaviour of high strength concrete piles and tilt-up
  38. panel construction.

  40. The successful applicant will be encouraged to participate in
  41. some of these projects and to develop his or her own areas of
  42. concrete research.

  44. Although some financial assistance for research is available
  45. through departmental funds, it will be necessary for the
  46. applicant to vigorously seek funding from external sources
  47. such as the Australian Research Council and the concrete
  48. industry.

  50. Undergraduate and post-graduate courses are run on concrete
  51. technology, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and
  52. concrete design.  The successful applicant will be expected to
  53. be responsible for teaching in these areas as well as assisting
  54. to a lesser extent with instruction in elementary structural
  55. mechanics.

  58. research projects (undergraduate and post graduate) and
  59. involvement with professional bodies such as the Institution
  60. of Engineers, Australia.  Contacts and interaction with local
  61. industry for the purposes of research, teaching and limited

  95. This 4-year fixed term appointment is primarily to provide
  96. support teaching in basic Civil Engineering subjects.  This
  97. includes laboratory supervision, demonstrating, tutorial work,
  98. and marking.  Administrative duties connected with the
  99. subjects may also be required.  The appointee will also have
  100. the opportunity of pursuing research in any area of Civil
  101. Engineering for which the Department can provide facilities
  102. and supervision.  The main areas of the Department's
  103. research activities are geomechanics, structural engineering,
  104. transport, and water engineering.  The appointee would be
  105. attached to one or other of these groups.

  107. The level of the initial appointment within the 8-point
  108. Assistant Lecturer scale will be determined by the appointee's
  109. qualifications and experience.
