- I remember playing with these as kid growing up in my dad's TV/2way radio
- repair shop. He used to get them from army surplus places and old retired
- police radios. The old cop car units were neat since they would run off
- 12V and provide about 400v for b+ for making homemade 50watt RF amps
- for two way radios (no comment on what meter band these were tuned to :-)
- I think they were made by either GE or Motorola and I think my dad may
- even have one or two of these old dynamotors in the junk pile. When the
- mike was keyed, you could even hear the 400Hz whine at the receiving end
- since large electrolytic filter caps were at premium back then and difficult
- to get in small towns.
