- Sounds like to me that some facts got jumbled up. The Byzantines referred to
- themselves as Rhomaioi almost to the end (1453, methinks) despite Latin falling
- into disuse after the 5th century debacles in the Western half of the Imperium.
- They (the Byzantines) did, at times, hold sway in the Black Sea areas.
