- I don't know if this will help or not, but I am the Cubmaster and I was the
- District Chair for the local School Night recruiting drive. Due to that
- fact, I could not attend the entire presentation, by my pack, to the parents
- and the boys. We started out as a group and went over some of the basics.
- I explained the meeting schedule and also presented one of the boys from
- last year his Bobcat award. I had displays out, including Boy's Life
- magazines, the Wolf, Bear and Webelos books and some of the crafts that the
- boys had done last year. We then separated, with the boys, and siblings
- remaing in the gym, and the parents going to the cafeteria. I had my most
- experienced Den Leader take charge of the boys, with the assistance of
- another leader. They played "active" games in the gym. Many of the games
- can be found in the materials provided for Cub Leades, such as the "How To"
- bood. You might also check the Den Leaders Handbook or any childre's
- activity book that you might find at a local library. As I was leaving to
- assume my district responsibilites for the evening, our unit commisioner
- stopped in and was amazed at the organization....I didn't think there was
- much, myself. At the end of the night I had 5 new adults, 17 new Cubs and
- 10 new Tigers. I was amazed. had commited to a total of 15 new boys. I
- got 27, with promises of more to come. I almost doubled the size of my
- pack....put on a good show and you will have a great response. Good luck!
