  11. We had the same situation about 3 years ago. The first year we teamed up with
  12. a local troop in the area and went to Camp Rock Enon near Winchester Va.. 
  13. It was cheaper than Goshen (all the camps we went to cost about $25 less per boy
  14. than Goshen) but Goshen offered many more facilities.
  15. We also went the last week and ended up getting all the leftovers for meals 
  16. which wasn't so great.

  18.    The next year we went to Camp Raven Knob, near Mt Airy, North of Winston-Salem
  19. area. This camp was great. We hiked to the top of the knob on evening the boys
  20. really liked it. We had on new older scout that joined and he did horseback all
  21. week.  The camp had a lake for swimming instead of a pool which was the only
  22. complaint that the boys had (only 2 of the 12 boys were swimmers anyway). Staff
  23. was friendly, and the Px was nice.  They had a wide range of merit badges offered
  24. some as I recall were not offered at Goshen (and vice versa).  The OA tap in cermony
  25. was the best that I ever saw.... Really.   In addition we spent an extra day to go
  26. there and took the boys to Petersburg National Park (in Va), camped the night in
  27. Greensboro, NC and the morning before checking into camp went to Guildford National
  28. Park ( in Greensboro).

  30.   The next year we went to Camp Davy Crockett between Johnson City and Jefferson 
  31. City.  I would rate it with Goshen except I don't remember if it offered a 
  32. High Adventure like Goshen.

  34.   This year we finally went to Goshen and the boys really enjoyed it. Only one
  35. of the older scouts when for High Adventure this year.

  37.   Next year is open for discussion maybe Raven Knob again but the older boys
  38. want to do either the High Adventure at Goshen or a different camp.  We're open for
  39. suggestions......
