  17. Tom is right about the movie.  It is called Purple Rose of Cairo and 
  18. stared Woody Allen and Mia Farrow.  Unfortunately, no footage of the
  19. coaster in operation.  Some scenes take place around the coaster and
  20. on the station.  (As a siode comment - I contacted Ray Ueberroth
  21. about my Coasters In Movie data base.  He said he wanted me to make
  22. several small changes to cut the size down by a page.  He had
  23. forgotten about it but wants to publish it.  I spent the weekend
  24. working on it and I will be sending it to him this week.  I hope he
  25. doesn't put it back in the corner again and forget about it, but
  26. prints it like he said he was going to at the last convention.

  28. As far as the Wildcat at Bertrand Island, I don't think it is
  29. standing anymore.  If I remember correctly it is not on the Standing
  30. But Not Operating list (SBNO).  I think it bit the dust several years
  31. ago.  I think the park closed over 8 years ago.  I remember on one of
  32. my coaster trips back in the early 1980's (probably 82 or 83) going
  33. to the park and finding it closed.  The coaster was having some
  34. maintenance done on it.  They had the chain removed.  It looked old
  35. but a pretty good ride.  I think the next year was the last year for
  36. the park.  The Purple Rose of Cairo was released in 1985 so I think
  37. this is the last year for the park and coaster.  Woody Allen has a
  38. way with coasters and filming at parks that are closed or about to
  39. be.  I think he had another movie that showed a corner of the
  40. Rockaway Coaster just before the park was closed down and in Annie
  41. Hall he shows a shot of the Thunderbolt at Coney Island plus some
  42. shots inside the house built under the coaster.
