- "Auto Repair for Dummies" is a good place to start if you want to learn
- how a car works and how to talk intelligently with your mechanic when
- you do take the car in. It describes how to do some simple repairs
- (and even slightly more complicated ones, like repacking bearings) and
- how to troubleshoot. There are also chapters with tips on buying both
- new and used cars and on selling your old car.
-
- I can't remember the author's name, but it's a softcover, plastic
- spiral-bound book.
