- Why don't you install a switch inline with the coil? The starter will
- still crank, but the car won't start. Make sure you install it on the
- low voltage side of the coil, though. 10 Amps should be plenty.
-
- Another good place is on cars with a fuel cut-off (anti-dieseling) valve.
- If you kill this, the car will actually start, and then stall right away.
- A potential thief will likely believe you have car trouble and look for
- easier prey. (This will probably not work on really exotic or expensive
- cars). Simply add a switch which runs the ignition to the cut-off. When you
- wish to start the car, open the switch. 1 Amp here should be sufficient.
-
- Use your imagination to pick a good spot to hide the switch. Sometimes
- your car will have a "fake" switch already for cosmetic purposes -- A/C
- or somesuch. Use that.
