  13. I have noticed this problem for a couple of months now.  I don't
  14. understand it, so any advice would be appreciated.

  16. This is the problem:

  18.     Sometimes, when I am going about 20 - 30 miles per hour,
  19.     and I decide to speed up, say to pass, it will hesitate
  20.     for a second.  I think this is actually a need for a tune-up.

  22.     Another problem occured the other day (Saturday) when I
  23.     stopped to talk to someone for a second.  The car idled for 
  24.     about 2 minutes, when I went to leave, it sort of backfired
  25.     and then it took off like normal.  I say sort of, because
  26.     it was a small backfire.  Could this be an exhaust problem,
  27.     or even worse, a head gasket blowing.  I don't think it is a 
  28.     head gasket, because I have lost no coolant since I bought the
  29.     the car eight months ago.

  31.     Finally, when travelling at about 38 - 42 miles per hour,
  32.     and I start going up a hill, it will stutter and then finally
  33.     select 2nd gear.  I think this is just the fact that this is
  34.     a bad gear ratio selection (too wide) on the three speed 
  35.     automatic transaxle.  I wish it was a closer ratio four speed
  36.     automatic transaxle, this would make the car accelerate better
  37.     and probably eliminate this hesitancy in gear selection.
