- Pioneer makes several 'cassette changers' that take 6 cassettes and allow
- for sequential recording on all 6 (so with C90s you can do 9 hours of
- recording in one swell foop). They have a quick reverse mechanism on
- this deck that reverses as soon as the leader is detected.
-
- With a dual cassette, unless you use C120 tapes (which most manufacturers
- do not reccomend since the tape is much thinner), the most you can record
- is probably 3 hours 20 minutes using C100 tapes. So if you need 4 hours
- or recording time, the Pioneer changers might be your only choice.
-
- Have you considered any alternatives ? A portable DAT will run you $600
- (or less, prices seem to drop every month !) and most have a long play
- mode recording at 33khz sampling freq. that allows 4 hours continuous
- recording. I got email from someone in the dat digest telling me he
- could not distinguish between recordings at 33khz and at the regular 44khz.
- You may also want to consider VHS or Beta HiFi. Using longer tapes such
- as a T180 or longer playing mode such as LP or EP you can get over 3 hours
- of continuous recording.
