- InterCom can be called anytime at 223-4245 voice (you'll get an answering
- machine at the office if nobody's there).
-
- What happened to TECHbooks and what the mysterious 1966 number was all
- about is a story that needs to be told over beers (or at least coffee)
- with much waving of hands and an occasional raised voice. It doesn't
- lend itself well to electronic communications, in other words.
-
- InterCom bought the techbook machine and the rights to the name, and
- will be continuing operations as techbook.com indefinitely. Having
- gotten the system finally hooked up to the Internet a few months ago,
- it's not easy to switch names overnight.
-
- PDaXs and techbook can be reached at 220-0636, 1200/2400 N81. There are
- actually a couple more phone lines, and all accounts are set up exactly
- as they were in Beaverton. People who paid for accounts will be
- provided with service according to the same terms that TECHbooks would
- have provided. Until October 1, the same pricing is in effect as what
- TECHbooks was offering. Send to info@techbook.com for more info on
- PDaXs accounts (still free) or subscription rates.
-
- TECHbooks provided me with a chance to talk with a lot more people about
- what was happening in local high-tech, Portland, or the world than just
- about anything I can think of. I'll miss that a lot.
