- As many of you know, a Canadian company, SynthaVoice Computers,
- recently announced a speech access product for Microsoft Windows
- 3.1. Well, we have received it at the International Braille and
- Technology Center for the Blind and I have set it up.
-
- I do have it talking, but I haven't learned it yet, so can't
- comment yet on how good or effective it is.
-
- I did have some problems setting it up, and did need to get some
- sighted assistance. That doesn't mean that everyone would, but I
- did. First, there was a bad file on the install disk. They
- immediately put a replacement on their BBS. I later had to change
- that file with debut debug commands given over the phone, because
- we needed to use it for com2 and it was set up for 1. We also had
- some hardware incompatibilities and inconsistencies, that everyone
- might not have. it is necessary to run the program with the /c2
- compatibility switch, no matter what, with our setup, a compuadd
- 486/50 with 16 megs of memory.
-
- I will keep you posted.
