- LK> Hi Walter. Indexing is an interesting concept. What does
- LK> that mean and how does it work? Regards, Les
-
- Well, Les, it really only comes in handy when you are using
- continuous read such as in wordperfect. When you press the stop
- key, and you know how the buffer flushes out, well it does this
- after you hit the stop key, and without indexing, you have to go
- back up a couple of lines to pick up where you left off. Well,
- with indexing, the cursor is automatically returned back to where
- you press up the shut-up key, and when you start reading again, you
- pick up right you heard the last word. Once you have used it, you
- would not want to be with out it. Not all synthesizers support it,
- but more of them are doing it now. The only screen reader that I
- am aware of that supports indexing is jaws, I don't know about
- artic, but vocal-eyes, and tinytalk still do not support it. Of
- course tinytalk I don't believe even has the continuous read key
- yet.
