  27. While Kentucky is often classified as a Bible Belt state, there is a
  28. rather astonishing enclave of moderation, to wit:

  30.     - Convicted Watergate participant Jeb Magruder is the pastor
  31.       of the largest Presbyterian church in Lexington.
  32.  
  33.     - Several Kentucky Baptist churches have broken with the Southern
  34.       Baptist Convention over the 'withdrawl of fellowship' from a
  35.       North Carolina church which ordained a homosexual.

  37.     - My home church (Chevy Chase Baptist) has held a joint Vacation
  38.       Bible School with the largest Catholic church in Lexington 
  39.       (Christ the King Cathedral, right across the street) for the
  40.       last two years.  (For Southern Baptists, that's *real* moderation!)

  42. Kentucky certainly has its proverbial 'bad apples'; all states have a few.
  43. I don't think we can paint the entire state with a fundmentalist/censorial
  44. brush.

  46. As far as FT Knox, I didn't find it any better (or worse) than any other
  47. military base. (Would you like to talk about FT Leonard Wood, MO or FT
  48. Hood, TX??)
