  13. I bought a unit that has an mercury manometer (sphygmomanometer) and
  14. is portable. Price around $70. It is in a self-contained metal case
  15. that includes everything but the stethoscope, i.e. cuff and bulb. The
  16. way they handle portability is that you tilt the instrument so that
  17. the manometer is at a 45 degree angle to the vertical and then close a
  18. valve. This traps all the mercury in a chamber. The case is then
  19. closed.
