  24.      Since last 24 August, the FMLN's radio is in danger of being
  25. silenced for a long time; its 1500 watts transmitter, exhausted
  26. after 11 years of civil war, stopped broadcasting. Now Radio
  27. "Venceremos" can only cover the area of San Salvador, the capital
  28. city; but the situation can become even worse.
  29.      The FMLN's radios are vital part of the popular political and
  30. ideological struggle; they have to compete with a sophisticated
  31. commercial network and the government's millionaire propaganda
  32. machine.
  33.      For more than 12 years, Radio "Venceremos" survived all the US
  34. and Military Dictatorship's attempts to destroy it; tens of FMLN
  35. fighters gave generously their lives to defend it.
