- I have been attempting to build and install GNU Emacs V18.58 on a 486 PC
- running Interactive UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2. The system is running
- X11 with Motif, and is also running TCP/IP. I have modified the config.h
- file in emacs $BUILD/src directory to include s-isc2-2.h and m-intel386.h
- header files. I can successfully build and install Emacs using "make install";
- however, when I attempt to run Emacs, the Emacs screen appears and immediately
- thereafter, the following error message appears in the command line:
-
- Stack underflow in byte code (byte compiler bug) pc = 49937
-
- I can view files using Emacs, but I cannot edit and save them.
-
- I am sending this message to solicit assistance in getting GNU Emacs
- successfully up and running on this PC. Has anyone reading this message
- installed GNU Emacs on a system running an Interactive UNIX operating
- system (preferably release 3.2), and if so, could you possibly provide me
- with some details about what files you needed to modify to get Emacs
- successfully up and running? Any assistance in this matter will be very
- much appreciated.
-
- Thank you.
