- On my SVR4 486 I am using emacs 18.56. I am largely very happy with it but
- a couple of things irritate me. It is set up to use <ESC> as the meta key
- which I find unnatural; is it possible to change this to the <ALT> key?
-
- I am also having problems with the arrow keys at my console. I use a PC with
- a VT100 emulator (under DOS) as well as the console and the arrow keys work
- perfectly on this without any intervention from me. However they do not work
- with the console (the arrow keys send ^[[OA, ^[[OB &c.) and I have been unable
- to bind the movement functions to these sequences (using global-set-key).
-
- Can anyone help?
-
- PS ISTR that about six months ago there was some discussion about how to show
- the current line # in the status line; did anyone ever get this to work
- safely?
