- I have just installed R5 on my system, and I have few questions about it and
- OpenWindows ....
-
- Why does OpenWindows need its own copy of X?
-
- what do the endings after the libraries mean, such as ...so.4.3 or ...sa.4.1 ?
- Now that I have installed R5, the openwindows X11R4 is out of date--can I
- upgrade it? Is it possible to simply symbolically link it? There seem
- to be many more X11 library files in the openwindows directory than in the
- regular lib directory, although many of them are simply dynamically linked
- copies of another file that have a slightly different extension.
-
- Does OpenWindows have its own ld.so.cache? Is there a special ldconfig for
- this?
-
- If it is not possible to upgrade the openwindows version of X11, what is
- the best way to avoid any conflicts that may result?
