- I am new to this group, so please bear with me or let me know if this
- is not the place for this.
-
- I just bought a 486-50, 8Mb Ram, 130MB HD. I set up dos 5.0, windows 3.1
- and Norton Desktop 1.0. Most stuff works fine except for my modem.
- I can use the modem software when I am not in windows. If I am in windows,
- I get a one charachter delay, so that is no good to me. I tried using other
- software such as that telcom for win or Pro Com Plus. PCPlus will not even
- work outsede of windows. I got com 4 selected on the board, but win reads it
- as com 3. I have a Cardinal 2400 - Fully Haynes Compatible. Most programs
- will connect but the writing is messed up, no matter what I change. (I am not
- new to computers, and I tried all modes, emulations, etc). Also I noticed
- that my mouse does not want to work properly, i.e. it sometimes locks up when
- I exit a non-win application. Also I find that that Notron Desktop makes the
- start up very slow, about twice as long as the program manager.
-
- The reason I think it has something to do with windows is because it worked
- on my old XT, where windows was not avialable.
-
- Thank you for any help!!
