  16. The Anomaly SCO Software Archives is an archive of software which has 
  17. been ported to the SCO operating system. All files can be downloaded from 
  18. ANOMALY. 
  19.  
  20. Due to the size of the software listing, it can no longer be posted directly
  21. to COMP.UNIX.XENIX.SCO, or the related SCO mailing lists. Instead, only the 
  22. instruction file on how to access the archives will be posted. Users can
  23. obtain the entire file listing from ANOMALY via one of the methods described
  24. below.

  54. To download a file, issue the following uucp request on your machine:

  58. All files are stored in $PUBDIR/archives on ANOMALY.

  60. If you have a file to donate to the archives, then kindly upload it as
  61. follows:

  63.     uucp yoursite!<filename> anomaly!~/incoming/<filename>

  65. This will store the file in ANOMALY's incoming directory for posting to
  66. the archives. Please include a mail message to "kd1hz" indicating what the
  67. file is, etc.

  69. If you are unable to upload a file to us, but have some that you wish to
  70. contribute, we will be happy to either Anonymous FTP or UUCP them. Just
  71. leave a message to "kd1hz" with the pertinent information.

  74.                          Mail-based archive server:
  75.  
  76. To answer the demand of people without direct Internet connections who wish
  77. to access the archives, we have established a mail-based server which processes
  78. requests for files. Note that in order to keep our SMTP connection from
  79. getting bogged down, we only process *5* megabytes worth of software
  80. requests PER DAY. This means someone attempting to snarf 15mb of files will
  81. tie the server up for three days. Users with alternative means of obtaining
  82. files are encouraged to do so.

  84. To receive instructions on how to use the mail-based archive server, send
  85. an e-mail message to "snarf@anomaly.sbs.risc.net", with a Subject: of 'snarf'
  86. and the following two lines starting in column 1:

  88. snarf address [your e-mail address]
  89. snarf help
  90.  
  91. For example:
  92.  
  93. snarf address kd1hz@anomaly.sbs.risc.net
  94. snarf help
  95.  
  96. These commands will forward a help file to your reply address. This help
  97. file contains all information you require on how to obtain software listings
  98. and uuencoded mailings of archive contents.

  100. Note that if you do not have an address line, or you have other errors in the
  101. body of your text, you will not get a reply from the server.

  106. All files can be accessed from ANOMALY's "bbs" login, for those users without
  107. UUCP or FTP access.

  113. "anomaly.sbs.risc.net"! Again, to reduce network link congestion, we limit
  114. the number of concurrent FTP sessions. So, if you get are unable to connect,
  115. just keep trying until a slot becomes available for you.
