- Howdy,
-
- I have a new DECstation running Ultrix 4.2A and I'm having trouble getting my
- printer to work. I have a Hewlett Packard Laserjet III with the HP Laserjet
- Postscript cartridge which was previously connected to my IBM PC.
-
- I need a suitable printcap entry for connecting this puppy up to the
- DECstation. If I use the "default" postscript specifications as given in
- Volume I of the documentation, and print a file, the front panel on the printer
- flashes the message "PROCESSING DATA" for a few minutes and then it says
- "POSTSCRIPT READY" without printing anything. This symptom usually indicates
- that the printer is not getting postscript input, but rather straight text.
-
- The current printcat settings I'm using are:
-
- lp|lp0|0|lp:\
- :af=/usr/adm/lpacct:\
- :br#9600:\
- :ct=dev:\
- :lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
- :lp=/dev/tty00:\
- :sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
- :Da=postscript:\
- :Dl=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/lps_v3.a:\
- :Lf=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/layup:\
- :Or=portrait:\
- :Xf=xlator_call:
-
- Any help would be appreciated, by E-mail preferably. Thanks.
