- One of my users was having trouble with a program when it was run
- as a child of another process. I said, "No problem!" and suggested
- that he simply debug the running process. Well, we fired up dbx
- and I looked for 'attach' or something similiar but no joy. "No
- problem!" I exclaimed and fired up gdb since I use it on my unix-
- based pc all the time for this. Again, no joy! gdb says "Can't
- attach processes on this machine." Well, I poke around the source
- for gdb and it appears that attach/detach aren't supported for
- decstations (or other MIPS-based machines). Is this a hardware
- limitation? Are there any debuggers for the DECstation that allow
- one to debug running processes via something like 'attach'?
