  40. I had EXACTLY the same problem when installing a Sco Unix 3.2.2 (floppy dist)
  41. My configuration was a little different than yours though.
  42. Chicony 386 sx-16 4Mb ram
  43. ide contoller (unknown brand) + 200mb seagate drive
  44. Archive 60Mb streamer
  45. Tseng Et4000.
  46. No co-processor.

  48. I tried everything : replacing the ide drive&controlleur by a WD mfm controler
  49. and control data 80mb, changing the VGA for an old EGA, removing the tape card
  50. removing the 2serial 1 // card etc... Nothing worked. 
  51. I also tried to start with "ignorefpu", no more luck.
  52. Finally since sco support was useless ("you didnt pay us xxxx ammount for
  53. support, I wont help you").

  55. At that time I was suspecting the problem came either from my motherboard or
  56. my bios.
  57. What I've done : I went with my hard-drive & controller to a friend who got
  58. a 386dx and we installed it without problem. 
  59. And from now I never had a problem booting anymore.

  61. I think that  there are some tests that are done at installation that are not
  62. done during normal boot which fail on certain motherboards or bios.
  63. Can somebody infirm or confirm this ?

  65. If you cannot find the fault try installing it on another machine. Did the 
  66. problem occured with the floppy or the tape distribution?
