- I just got my hands on such a beast (the Computone IIex 16 port) and it
- looks to be truely impressive.
-
- This thing supports 115,200bps, supports up to 256 ports on a single board
- and has an external concentrator that looks just like a Silicon Graphics
- Indigo (but it is gray :-( ).
-
- The 'Indigo-type' concentrator has these RISC-based UARTs and a funky
- LCD display that lets you snoop any line on any RS-232C port and even
- lets you estimate the send and receive CPS rates on any port. Very cool.
-
- Now, I have yet to plug in the thing (it is NOT going into our machine,
- sniff...). It is going to go in an (eech) Xenix system.
-
- The drivers supplied don't support any SRV4 products, so I don't think
- this board will ever make its way into our machine either. (If anyone
- has heard otherwise, let me know)
-
- Anyway, back to the board. I would like to hear from other people who
- have tried or are using this card. I doubt the 80186-20 processor
- can handle 256 ports, but it's nice to know the thing is designed for
- that kind of limitation. But then again a 486 supporting 256 devices? Humm...
