- Someday my work schedule will actually allow me to play with an SysVR4
- system. (Hah!) So this response will have to be set in terms of the
- SysVR3.2 boxes I play with, though I don't think that much changes when
- dealing with the r-utilities on the network.
-
- If the user logs in with the same id you can eliminate the password check
- by making the systems 'equivalent' (i.e. trusted) in the /etc/hosts.equiv
- files. Be aware that doing this on systems that exist on more than
- just an isolated (and small) network tends to invite possible intrusion.
- All someone has to do is fake the equivalent host name and a valid id
- and they can jump straight into an account.
