  12. As the subject line says, what is the "fastest" X-windows display
  13. for a 80386 or 80486 running SVR4 Unix?  Are there particular
  14. chipsets (ET4000 or 8414 for example) that are really great or
  15. really bad?  Are there any boards out there that are much better
  16. or much worse?  Are there any that stand out at low resolution
  17. but slow down at higher resolutions?  And how about dual-ported
  18. video ram?

  20. What about the software?  Is X11R5 much faster than X11R4?  What
  21. about Xfree86?

  23. Our goal is to find something that gives good X performance on a
  24. 486-PC running Unix (Esix in our case).  The machine is fast, but
  25. X windows is very slow.  Is this FAQ material?
