- The hardware: Everex MP.
- The software: SCO Unix 3.2.4, SCO TCP/IP 1.1.3, SCO TCP/IP Maint. Supp.
-
- When any attempt is made to load MPX 2.0, it fails immediately after it
- has the serial number and activation key information giving a message
- concerning serialisation failure. So far (this is dragging on and on)
- support people and SCO have come up with:
- 1) Trying other serial number/activation keys.
- (Trying anything other than a valid MPX combination causes custom
- to ask you to try again, as per the manual.)
- 2) Reload the link kit.
- (We've done a complete reload of the O/S.)
- 3) Reserialise the O/S with /etc/brand.
- (Done it: makes no difference.)
- 4) "Check sergen".
-
- This last remaining SCO suggestion is less than comprehensive, since they
- haven't said how to check it or what to check it for. After a failed MPX
- installation, /etc/sergen is certainly there, but whether it is the program
- it should be, how to run it or even what it should checksum to are as
- yet unknown.
-
- Anyone with any experience with loading MPX, especially on an Everex MP
- and even more especially if you have seen this problem, please tell us
- (including SCO!) what the problem is.
