  16. I have two purposes in making this post:
  17.  
  18.     1) To determine levels of customer satisfaction with various versions
  19.        of UNIX. I figure that folks who respond have either tried and not
  20.        liked the flavor of UNIX which they have, or else have liked it so
  21.        well that they have upgraded to a newer version and have an older
  22.        UNEMCUMBERED version of the software about.
  23.  
  24.     2) To find the cheapest USED version of UNIX that I can which includes
  25.        the following: 
  26.         1) Must Have TCP/IP and NFS
  27.         2) Must Have Development System
  28.         3) [Desirable  -- DOS MERGE or VP/IX]
  29.         4) [Desirable  -- X-Windows]
  30.         5) [Desirable  -- Can be loaded from 1.2 M floppies]
  31.         6) [Desirable  -- Supports SCSI, RLL, and IDE]
  32.         7) [Desirable  -- Unlimited user license]
  33.         8) [Desirable  -- Has a reasonable upgrade path]
  34.         9) [Desirable  -- Has support for SyQuest removable media]
  35.         10) [Desirable -- Has support for CD-ROM]
  36.         11) [Desirable -- has support for VGA]
  37.  
  38. If I had the money, I would be thinking of Dell SysVR4. Since I don't, I would
  39. ideally like to find something of that quality at a lower cost [I want a lot,
  40. don't I? :-) ].

  42. BTW, I have SCO XENIX and Microport UNIX that I am looking to decommission if I 
  43. find the above at a good price -- SCO and Microport want more for an upgrade
  44. from what I have to what I want than Dell charges for a whole new system :-(.

  46. If I don't get a newer UNIX soon, I may dump what I have and load OS/2 on my
  47. system -- TCP/IP and NFS can be had for that platform at a very reasonable
  48. price. [So take that, you price-gouging UNIX-vendors :-) ]
