  22. With FAS 2.10 under ISC UNIX 3.0 I can run two ports with NS16550A UARTs
  23. with 115200 bps at the same time. CPU load is only 25% (486/33 motherboard)
  24. and there are no lost characters at all. I use a 1542B and made this test
  25. with heavy disk i/o in the background.

  27. I think Jochen has a broken motherboard, and I don't think it is right
  28. to make the PC design responsible for the flaw in his motherboard. It
  29. was the motherboard manufacturer who made the error, not the people who
  30. designed the PC. Not that I like the PC design very much, but I also
  31. don't like wrong accusations.

  33. BTW, the ISA bus _is_ standardized by some committee. However, I keep
  34. forgetting its name. Was it IEEE? The times where every motherboard
  35. manufacturer designed the ISA bus interface to its taste are long over.
  36. If motherboards are sold today that don't conform to this standard they
  37. can safely be considered broken.
