- Can someone please help me with setting up my Adaptec 1740/42a SCSI
- card in my system please?
-
- It's a Gateway 486/33 EISA, and I'm trying to run Interactive V3.0 Unix.
- This is what I've done so far:
- - run EISA config, kick card into Standard mode
- (Int 11, IO 330, DMA 5)
- - Install ISC V3
- - run "kconfig", "HPDD" and set boot controller to AHA1740
- and pick interrupt 11
- - save changes, build a kernel and install it
- - reboot, rerun EISA config and kick card into "Enhanced" mode
- - reboot and try to run ISC
-
- At this point I get the error: HPDD AHA1740 NOTICE
- Kernel is interrupt 11
- EISA NV RAM is interrupt 6
-
- And the system hangs...
-
- Did I run EISA config incorrectly? I didn't pick Interrupt 6, and besides
- I thought INT 6 was the floppy! This controller has the floppies enabled
- and is controlling A: and B:.
-
- Should I have picked a different interrupt when configuring HPDD?
- (I haven't installed the V3.01 "fix" disk yet -- does that matter?)
- ( And I have a 100MB DOS 5 partition too -- does that matter?)
-
- I am up and running now, but the card is in Standard Mode and HPDD
- is configured to use the AHA1540 driver.
-
- But can you help me get to "enhanced" mode?
-
- I'd be much obliged!
