  25. It it vendor dependent.  I know there is least one vendor that
  26. is primarily BSD based that support multi-processor systems (DEC).
  27. I don't know if Sun considers itself more BSD or System V based
  28. these days, but they also multi-processor systems.  I'm sure there
  29. are many more.

  31. For DEC, the ULTRIX operating system supports most of the multi-processor
  32. VAX systems and the DECsystem 5800.  The current version is V4.3.  I think
  33. the MP VAX systems that it doesn't support is the VAX 6000-600 family
  34. and the new VAX 7000 and VAX 10000 family.  Some level of multi-processor
  35. support has been in ULTRIX since about V2.2 for the early dual processor
  36. VAX systems.  This early supported was asymmetric, allowing a master and
  37. slaves.  In V4 the support became symmetric, but some device drivers
  38. still have an affinity for the boot CPU.
