- I am breaking net etiquette by not reading this group for a while before posting,
- many apologies if this post is not good form.
-
- I would like to hear from people using the CRAY-YMP EL. Reply by e-mail if you prefer.
- Specific points I would like to hear about include:
-
- (*) the EL's usefulness for seismic processing where fast memory and data
- transfer rates are important; we typically process lots of small chunks
- of data
- (*) the EL is serviced (in our area) by DEC, does any one have
- any comments good or bad about DEC service of CRAY hardware?
- (*) how well does it fit into a NIS domain as either a client to a
- SUN master server or as a master with SUN clients?
- (*) has anyone experienced problems porting code from the Convex to the CRAY?
- (*) has anyone switched from a Convex to the EL? Would you buy CRAY again if
- you could do it over?
-
- Any comments are welcome!
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
- Jim
