- The VAX device drivers and other low-level modules are ridden through and
- through with old V32 (Bell Labs) code. Much of the newer stuff was donated
- by Armando et al from DEC, or written by various kind and desperate hackers
- such as Chris Torek while he was at UMD. However, it is likely that even
- if a 4.4 port appears (which appears less and less likely as other deadlines
- loom ponderously on the horizon), it will not be part of 4.4-lite or other-
- wise freely redistributable. There's just too much original Bell Labs code
- in that part of the system; that's why it wasn't on Net-2.
