- Looks like the parity is not stripped before the "RING" is compared for.
- Do your dialing a 8N1 rather than 7E1 or 7O1.

- If your modem doesn't use "RING" to indicate the remote phone is ringing,
- then perhaps you are receivign an incoming call every time (not likely 8-)
- or you have confused anser and originate settings.
