  13. I don't even know where to begin to describe the problem.  I asked about
  14. this once, but got no response.

  16. Compiling our software on a 320, it won't run on a 540.

  18. I don't know what OS level I have, since there seems to be no way to
  19. find out.  It's 3.2.something.

  21. I have 3.2.2 tapes from IBM (three of them).  How can I be sure I'm at
  22. 3.2.2 ?  There are 605 patches on those tapes.  Do they have any relevance
  23. at all to the OS revision ?  I read the PTF thread and agree that AIX
  24. updates are sheer hell.  I did install a bunch of PTF's from the tapes,
  25. but I have no idea if they helped anything at all, and the problem
  26. certainly didn't go away.

  28. The software is statically linked.  Should I be doing this ?  Are non-static
  29. links safer ?

  31. The software is X/Motif based.

  33. Any help appreciated.  So far NO ONE has a clue about what this problem is.
