  60.     Well, well.  I just got an update for the dbx crashes
  61.     system problem.  When the rep asked for type of media
  62.     I said floppy disk would be fine, he responded that
  63.     it was to big and wanted to know if I had an 8mm tape.
  64.     After getting the tape I see why 8mm was needed.  It had
  65.     over 100Megs of patches!!!  One being a csh fix (U407535)
  66.     that wasn't ordered but sent.  Well, the APAR info 
  67.     seemed to say it was fixing a serious bug, so I applied it.
  68.     My regret was in doing so.  It fixed a "problem" that has
  69.     never worked in csh and at the same time broke \<retuen>
  70.     withing single quotes, so all inline awk scripts bo 
  71.     longer worked.

  73.     I am getting off the track, but this csh patch also came
  74.     with many other "fixes", mainly things pertaining to the
  75.     accounting scripts.  Well, guess what?  When I rejected the
  76.     update because csh stopped working, it removed all of the
  77.     other fixes too.  What bugs me is that the accounting patch also
  78.     fixed a minor problem we were having.  I finally had to go
  79.     back and cp csh to csh.old, apply the patch and then rename
  80.     the "fixed" csh to csh.new and then csh.old back to csh.  This
  81.     is the only way I could find in info  to get only part of the
  82.     fix installed, not that the installp man page is the easiest
  83.     peice of reading!
