- We have been experiencing some problems with attaching an IBM 4029
- laser printer at high baud rates (38400) on an IBM 16 port async
- concentrator "pod" which is attached to an IBM 64 port controller on
- an RS/6000 model 550. We are using AIX3.2.
-
- I was wondering if anyone else has experienced odd behavior using the
- async concentrators at high baud rates. We experience various things
- such as dropped characters, garbled output, and "serial errors" on the
- front panel of the 4029. The cable from the "pod" to the printer is 2'
- long (one of our many attempts to locate and isolate this problem).
-
- We have had no problems with ports configured for 9600 baud for
- another printer and several terminals. For the printers, we have
- cabled properly for flow control by driving DCD (pin 4 on the "pod's"
- RJ45) as DTR flow control.
-
- If anyone else is using the 64 port controller + 16 port concentrator
- setup and has experienced such problems, I would be interested in
- hearing from you.
-
- I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has driven more
- than 200' of serial cabling using the 16 port concentrators (the spec
- limit for the concentrators).
-
- Thanks very much,
-
