- Well, I received my WP 5.1 for Unix (Sun) a couple of days ago, installed it
- (came on 17 3 1/2" diskettes) and have been trying it out. Previously, at another
- site, I had WP 5.0 for Unix. The difference is HUGE between the two releases.
- wp 5.0 was crude and not too powerful. The new wp (5.1) has resolved all that
- and is VERY slick. No more going to MS Windows to do fancy+easy documents,
- papers. etc. .
-
- So far, I've only gone through the demos (which are naturally impressive)
- and have fiddled around a bit on my own. One thing I'm going to like alot
- is its ability to either import of link in other file types, such as
- spreadsheets (a big plus for me). What with wp 5.1 and the new motif version
- of Lotus 123, there is now a good platform of basic apps on Unix
- (at least SunOS) to make that walk down the hall to a PC unecessary.
- This is LONG overdue.
-
- As a side note, from what SunWorld tells me, I should be seeing a suite of
- Lotus apps for X/Open Windows soon (saw the ad for Lotus cc:mail in this months
- issue).
