  18. SYMPOSIUM: The seventh annual International Parallel Processing
  19. Symposium (IPPS '93) will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the Newport
  20. Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport Beach, California.  The
  21. symposium is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and will be held in
  22. cooperation with ACM SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and
  23. scientists from around the world to present the latest research
  24. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed processing.

  26. WORKSHOP: The second annual workshop on Heterogeneous Processing (HP)
  27. will be held on the first day of the Symposium (April 13).  For the
  28. purposes of the workshop, HP is considered the use of different types
  29. of parallel processors, processing components, or connectivity
  30. paradigms to maximize performance, cost-effectiveness and/or
  31. development effort.  HP might range in mode from coupled
  32. supercomputing- class machines at separated sites (aka
  33. "Metacomputing") to diverse elements in a single computer (aka
  34. mixed-mode processing).  Components of Heterogeneous Processing have
  35. appeared in the scientific literature over the last several years.
  36. They have included such efforts as the matching of individual code
  37. segments to best-suited machines, the development of heterogeneous
  38. processor suites to span wide problem sets, and the intelligent
  39. management of heterogeneous processor suites.

  41. The workshop will feature an invited address and several sessions of
  42. submitted paper presentations.  Authors are invited to submit
  43. manuscripts which demonstrate original unpublished research in all
  44. areas of Heterogeneous processing.  The topics of interest include but
  45. are not limited to the following:

  55. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  Send five (5) copies
  56. of complete paper (not to exceed 15 single spaced, single sided pages)
  57. to the Workshop Chair.  Manuscripts must be received by October 21,
  58. 1992.  Due to the large number of anticipated submissions, manuscripts
  59. postmarked later than October 21, 1991 risk rejection.  (Post overseas
  60. submissions air mail.)  Notification of review decisions will be
  61. mailed by December 31, 1992.  Camera ready papers are due January 29,
  62. 1993.  Proceedings will be available at the symposium.
