  25. This one-day course will provide a practical overview to the use of
  26. TeX in a professional publishing environment. A general introduction
  27. will include the origin and history of TeX, WYSIWYG vs. mark-up
  28. packages, how TeX processes a book, and why authors use TeX.

  30. A detailed discussion of TeX's affect on the publishing process will
  31. cover topics such as author's manuscript, copyediting, conversion to
  32. a chosen package, indexing, art preparation, and reproduction proof.
