-
- This is EXACTLY the solution!
-
- Thankfully, our Zenith service folks at University Computing Services
- pointed me in the right direction. I indeed had to upgrade the PAL on
- the backplane board from a 444-640-00 to a 444-640-00-1. That, in
- addition to moving the jumper from pins 1-2 at U104 to pins 2-3 got
- the drive working.
-
- Of course, all of this was outlined in my "Zenith Professional Desktop
- Computer Owner's Manual" (part no 595-4251) :-) :-)
-
- Now, if I could only upgrade the combined parallel/serial IO chip
- (82C605) to get FIFO'ed UARTS for my spiffy new 14.4Kb modem, I'd be
- THRILLED to death...and would have successfully brought this 4 year
- old computer into the 90's. (It has been kicking and screaming all
- the way, of course.)
-
- My thanks to all!
